Self-Service Cottages
Our three rustic fenced self-service cottages offer a double bed, two single stretchers and a fully equipped kitchen with separate shower, toilet and washbasin. Each cottage has its own braai area. Ideal for budget-minded guests wanting a relaxing peaceful stay amidst the beauty of the bushveld.

HORNBILL
The Yellow billed Hornbill is a very welcome visitor to Downstream as it feeds mainly on the ground, where they forage for seeds, small insects, spiders and scorpions.

KINGFISHER
The Kingfisher is a frequent visitor. Most popular is the The woodland kingfisher its with bright blue feathers on its back, wings, and tail. It has black shoulders and a white belly and has a distinctive trill that it uses to announce its territory.

FISH EAGLE
You can hear the Fish Eagle’s call near the water’s edge along the river or in flight overhead. The Fish Eagle has a distinctive call that is often described as a piercing wail, a yelping laugh, or a whistling scream. it’s so well known that it’s often called “the voice of Africa”.
